Dancer

A Journey of Bravery, Adventure, and Motherhood

Meet Dancer

Hi there! I’m Dancer, a palomino tobiano American Paint Horse with a story that spans beautiful landscapes and unforgettable adventures. Born on June 6, 2004, at a stable on the Santa Ana River in Southern California, I’ve lived a life filled with exploration, friendship, and family.

Early Days: Learning and Growing

I spent the first two years of my life just being a carefree young horse, playing with my best friend Lacey. During that time, I learned all the basics: how to wear a halter, lead with a rope, get a bath, and load into a trailer. My human mom made sure I learned everything a young horse needs to know.

When I was two, I took the next big step—I learned how to wear a saddle and be ridden. My mom and I went on countless trail rides, exploring mountains, beaches, and everything in between. We even tackled obstacle challenges where I had to be brave and navigate through tricky spots—like dragging logs and walking through scary things!

Adventure and Purpose

One of my favorite activities was being part of a program called Horses Heal, where I helped people facing various challenges. My horse mom, Patch, was part of this too, and everyone adored her.

My human mom once tried to turn me into a cow horse, but I’ll be honest—cows just aren’t my thing! I much prefer exploring trails and meeting new people.

We moved a few times, including to a really nice place in Newport Beach where I shared a space with another paint horse. My human mom’s best friend owned that horse, and we traveled all over for trail rides together.

A New Chapter: Moving to Texas

Life changed when my human mom got very sick and had to close her horse business. After she recovered, we moved to Northern California for more trail riding and exploring. Later, mom decided to travel by RV, and I went to live with her friend where my half-brother Liberty was.

Mom eventually settled in Texas with her dad, but it took a while to find a place for Liberty and me. After a long journey, we finally arrived in Harlingen, Texas, late one evening—on Liberty’s 19th birthday, no less! We were nervous, but seeing mom again made it all worthwhile.

Life in Texas: A New Pace

Here in Texas, life is a bit slower but just as fulfilling. Our stalls are cozy, the food is great, and we have plenty of room to stretch our legs—whether in the pasture, the round pen, or out on a trail ride. The landscape is different—flatter and more open than California—but I’ve come to love it.

Motherhood: My Biggest Adventure Yet

Last year, I became a mom! My beautiful baby girl Luna was born—a black and white tobiano paint just like me. A few months ago, Luna began learning how to be a grown-up horse, just like I did when I was young. I couldn’t be prouder of how smart, curious, and brave she is!

Looking Ahead

Today, I’m still enjoying my days in Texas with my human mom and my herd. Whether we’re exploring the countryside or just spending time together, life feels good. Luna is growing into her own, and I can’t wait to see where her journey takes her.
